Mock Exams
The Mock Exams finish this Friday the 9th of February. We would like to thank students for their impeccable behaviour throughout this stressful process and to staff for facilitating the smooth running of these exams.
Spanish
Congratulations to Rebecca Byrne on achieving the B1 standard in the recent DELE Exams (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language). This is a fantastic achievement and reflective of all of Rebecca’s hard work. Bien hecho.
TY Agricultural Science
The TY class continued the sale of their produce at St Jude’s Parish Church this week. Sales went well and all funds raised will go to the self sufficiency of the TY garden. Thanks to all who supported. Please click on the Gallery below to see some pictures of the day.
Ski Trip
The 4th / 5th Year Ski Tour heads off this weekend for a week on the slopes of Andorra. This is an amazing opportunity for students to learn a new skill and we wish a safe and enjoyable trip to all Teachers and Students that are travelling. We are absolutely certain that everyone will have snow much fun.
Sports News
Our former student Aaron O’Driscoll continues to make excellent progress at Southampton Football Club scoring a goal from centre back in the Premier League Under 23 League on Tuesday night. We wish him all the best for the rest of the season and look forward to continuing to track his excellent progress.
Trocaire
Congratulations to Class 2 Lagan who raised the most money for Trocaire last year and were rewarded with a day off school last Friday. They went to the cinema, then went bowling followed by lunch and some outdoor games. We hope you enjoyed your day.
GAA News
It will be a busy end of the month for St Mac Dara’s GAA teams. We have the following fixture details but no specific dates just yet.
Leinster Under 14 Boys Semi Final V Cross and Passion
Dublin Under 16 Boys Quarter Final V St Colmcilles
Dublin Under 18 Boys Semi Final V Colaiste Cois Life
Unfortunately the First Year Girls Football Blitz which was due to be played today had to be cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions. St Mac Dara’s has a strong tradition of Girls GAA and this Blitz was created by teachers within the school to promote Girls Gaelic Football in the local area. Six local schools were due to join us on our school pitch and on pitches in Tymon Park for a day of games. We hope to reschedule the event for later in the academic year.
Mid Term
Finally we want to wish all staff and students a safe and enjoyable mid term break (starting next Monday). We hope to see everyone back in school refreshed and ready to go on Monday the 19th of February.
