List of Events For 1916 Commemorations in St.Mac Dara’s CC
Wednesday: History Day – With 1916 the main focus
Thursday: 1916 Commemoration Ceremony in the Canteen
The ceremony will start at 1.50 and finish at 3.40.
All 3rd years, 5th years & 6th year students will be attending.
Special Guest speaker: Professor Daire Keogh, President of St.Patricks College, Drumcondra.
Friday: 1916 Flag Raising Ceremony and Tree Planting
The ceremony will start at 2 in the canteen and finish at 3.40.
All 1st & 2nd Years will be attending.
Mr. Brian Mullins will give a presentation on the history of the Tricolour.
Special guest speaker Bartle Faulkner, historian will give a talk on the Easter Rising 1916.
His son, Captain Barry Faulkner will also be a special guests and will officially raise the flag. We will also have the planting of an oak tree to mark the centenary, and we will be burying a time capsule to mark the event.
