TY Christmas Newsletter 2019

Charity Work:

Each week we meet with our friends from Cheeverstown as part of our “Fast Friends” programme. We have been preparing our Christmas carols for our service in the Ashleaf Shopping Centre on the 20th of December from 10am – 12pm. Come and see us perform if you are in the area.

We have raised a substantial amount of money for two charities so far this year. We sold badges for the Irish Society for Autism raising €941.47 and we bag-packed for Down Syndrome Ireland raising €997.82. We are very proud of our charity connections.

Variety Show:

The TY class played a central role in the planning and organisation of this event in the lead up and indeed on the night. Students performed, sold event tickets, sold raffle tickets, worked at the tuck shop and kept everything under control backstage. We had some wonderful performances from our TY class. Well done to all involved.

Entrepreneurs:

Our TY class are proving to be keen business people with stalls at the variety show, the local Christmas fair and indeed at the school Christmas fair next Wednesday 18th here at the school. Be sure to pop in as there will be amazing stock on sale from the TY class as well as the 1st Years. Our Mini-Company class are currently interviewing for positions of management with our school bank. Good luck to all.

English:

Our class will be attending a Podcasting workshop on Friday 13th of December. We hope to have our own TY Podcast before long. Keep an ear out for it! The class are also busy preparing their version of Macbeth for a stage production in January at the Mill Theatre in Dundrum.

Korean Demonstration:

Our Korean teacher Ms Park and our Taekwondo teacher Master Cha organised for the South-Korean Taekwondo team to attend our school for a jaw-dropping demonstration of skill and athleticism. All 1st and 3rd year classes attended the event and we are grateful and delighted to have been given the opportunity to witness such a spectacle.

We will be holding a Parent’s Information evening in the new year for any parents of 3rd year students interested in hearing more about the programme. We would like to thank you for your continued support of our programme and wish you all a safe and Happy Christmas. We look forward to a positive, busy new year here in the college.

If you have any further queries, please contact J Clune at the college on 01 4566216. Our website www.stmacdaras.ie has a wonderful array of TY news also.
